Ellie on Ice: A Princess Party Wish
6-year-old Ellie harnesses the strength and bravery of her favourite animated characters to spin some ice-skating skills
Drawing strength from her hero
As she underwent chemotherapy for her acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, Ellie would wear a dress, similar to the one worn by her favourite animated princess, which filled her with hope, strength, and joy.
From the princess's long blonde hair (which Ellie dreamed of during her chemo treatments) to her confidence in the face of uncertainty, Ellie sees a lot of herself in this brave character and feels a special connection to her.
So when it came time to announce her one true wish, Ellie wished 'to learn how to ice skate with my favourite princess'. ⭐
Preparing for her princess party
In anticipation of her wish, Ellie received an official invitation asking her to come and skate on the ice with her favourite princesses.
Ellie also received some invitations (in her favourite colours of course!) that she could hand out to her friends and family, so they could all party together!
And finally, to help build up the excitement for her wish, Ellie as well as all her party guests, had the opportunity to pick their own costumes to wear to Ellie's very special ice-skating princess party wish. 🎈
Ellie walked out of the party with a big blue smile (from cake) and sighed, "Ah, I'm the luckiest girl in the world" and then said that if she gets a second wish, then she will wish for all of that to happen all over again - that tells me it was absolutely perfect. Thank you so much.

Ellie braves the ice
Ellie's wish took place at Planet Chill in Paradise Resort on the Gold Coast. Arriving in costume with her party pals, Ellie was guided to the princess kingdom on the ice-skating rink, where her favourite princesses were waiting to greet her.
After some preparation, Ellie and her party guests were invited onto the ice. Together they glided across the rink. And even though there were some slips and stumbles, Ellie found her inner strength to get back up again!
When it was time for a break, Ellie spent her time creating penguin snow globes and recharging with some of her favourite party foods, including fruit, snow cones, and a special cake provided by Make-A-Wish Major Partners, The Cheesecake Shop. 🎂
