Clancy's Wish to meet The Wiggles

Get ready to Do the Propeller, Rock-a-Bye Your Bear and eat some Yummy Yummy Fruit Salad, because this month we're sharing Clancy’s Wiggly Wiggles Wish!
13-year-old Clancy is The Wiggles' biggest fan! From the moment Clancy knew he was getting a wish, it was always going to be to meet The Wiggles. Clancy has been watching The Wiggles since he was young, and he is obsessed – collecting all their merchandise and listening to and watching them any chance he gets. Clancy has been to several shows over the years but had never had the chance to meet his idols and show them all his Wiggly dance moves until now.
Clancy, with his best friend Ned by his side, made his way to Rod Laver Arena in the Big Silver Hummer (cousin to The Big Red Car), where he met Georgia from Wish HQ and volunteer superstar, Lesley, from our Virtual Volunteer Team, who was also very excited for her first in-person wish activity.
They were escorted up to the meet and greet area where Clancy and Ned could not contain their excitement – doing their best Wiggly dance moves all the way from the Hummer to the elevator! When they entered the meet and greet room, Clancy’s eyes widened as he saw his idols only a few feet away. As soon as the Wiggles saw Clancy, it was like he was the only one in the room – they waved over to him and did their signature wiggly fingers. Clancy and Ned waited patiently until the end of the Meet & Greet session so they could have The Wiggles all to themselves. The wait was definitely made easier as the wonderful Blue Wiggle Anthony kept popping over to Clancy any chance he got, really making a special effort to talk and dance with him.
The time came for Clancy to have the Wiggles' full undivided attention and WOW did they put on a show! Some of the band members remembered Clancy from their other shows and they welcomed him with open arms.
The Wiggles asked what Clancy’s favourite songs were and he proudly announced “Do The Propeller’ – so they performed Propeller just for Clancy! He was up in a heartbeat doing the Wiggly moves, so elated and clearly on cloud nine dancing to his favourite song with his favourite band. Seeing the pure joy on Clancy’s face brought a tear to Mum’s eye. The Wiggles then sang Ned’s favourite song – Elephant, which Clancy was super excited about too.
After some time for photos and extra talking, we headed down to the stage and settled into our awesome seats ready for the show to begin. As soon as the Wiggles came out on stage, Clancy leapt out of his seat and ran to the front of the stage. Some of the band members saw him and gave him a great big smile and wave.
For the next hour, Clancy rocked out to all of his favourite Wiggles songs. He saw all The Wiggles and Friends up close again as they made their way through the crowd, even having a special visit from Santa Claus!
You couldn’t wipe the smile off Clancy’s face and his excitement was contagious - he and Ned high fiving throughout the show. As The Wiggles were leaving the stage they looked over to Clancy and made sure to wave goodbye, with Tsehay even saying “bye Clancy” into her microphone as she walked off the stage, which Mum was so thrilled about.
After the show wrapped up, Clancy excitedly hit the merch stand, purchasing a collectable Wiggles item and a Wags the Dog toy to add to his collection at home. Mum was so happy and couldn’t say thank you enough, she was thrilled. She shared that it had been such a special day for Clancy, and he would be watching the videos over and over again, so the wish would always stay with him.
This special wish wouldn’t have been possible without the amazing work of Clancy’s Wish team, Lesley, Tanya, Kaitlyn, Jenna, Tori and Amy.
We promise the warm and fuzzies will make up for having “Do the Propeller” stuck in your head for the rest of the day!
