Update regarding 2015/16 tax receipts

We’re sorry to let you know that there will be a delay in sending out Make-A-Wish Australia consolidated receipts for donations made in the 2015-2016 financial year. During the implementation of a major system upgrade, we unfortunately had unexpected issues that will prevent us from issuing consolidated receipts by 31st July 2016. We’re working as hard as we can to minimise the delay, and at this stage we expect that consolidated receipts should be issued by the last week of August.
We are truly thankful for your support in making wishes come true for seriously ill children and teenagers. Thank you for your patience during this time and please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

FAQs

Who is affected by the delay in tax receipts?

If you are a supporter of Make-A-Wish Australia, who made at least one donation in the 2015-2016 financial year and have requested a consolidated receipt, the receipt delay will affect you. This delay affects our supporters who are part of our Regular Giving program, or were at some point during the 2015-2016 financial year. Single gift donations are issued receipts within a few weeks of the gift being made, so this consolidated receipting issue should not affect donors who give in this way. If you are unsure if the issue affects you, please contact our Supporter Care and Engagement Team on enquiries@makeawish.org.au or 1800 032 260.

When will my consolidated receipt be available?

We are working as hard as we can to minimise the delay and at this stage we expect that consolidated receipts should be issued by the last week of August. Please note, letters will take longer to arrive via post.

What does this mean for me?

This delay may affect your ability to complete your tax return for the 2015-2016 financial year, if you wish to claim your donations to Make-A-Wish Australia on your return.
When completing your return online, you do not need a copy of your tax receipt from Make-A-Wish Australia in hand, but will require the copy we send you for your records. You can check your bank statements for the past financial year to provide a summary of your donations to Make-A-Wish, or you may prefer to wait until you receive your official receipt.

Are there any other impacts?

Please rest assured that your personal details have not been compromised.
