No child should spend their birthday in brain surgery
On her 2nd birthday, little Macey wasn’t blowing out candles or playing with balloons. She was in surgery — for the second time that week — fighting a highly aggressive brain tumour.
Her mum Kika remembers, “A few days earlier, Macey spent 13 hours in surgery. But doctors needed to remove more of the tumour, so she went back in on her birthday.”
That was the beginning of a long and painful road for Macey. Endless medical appointments, gruelling chemotherapy, and months away from home — all before her third birthday.
But now, she has something to look forward to. Something joyful, hopeful — a big wish. And you can help make it come true. ⭐

Your tax-deductible gift by 30 June can help bring hope to a child who really needs it
Macey’s condition meant her family had to leave their home in Tasmania almost overnight and relocate to Melbourne for treatment. Alongside hospital stays, she endured spinal chemotherapy, allergic reactions, and countless complications — all while missing out on the joy of childhood.
Even now, she’s working hard in therapy to relearn how to walk and talk.
Her big wish? To experience the freedom of the great outdoors again.
“She loves camping, kayaking, and finding little crabs on the beach,” says Kika (Macey's mum). “After so long in hospital, she just wants to be outside.”
That’s why her wish is an epic family camping and kayaking adventure in Cairns — exploring beaches, meeting crocodiles, and finally feeling like a kid again.
But wishes this big don’t happen without support. That’s why your gift today matters so much.
