Meet Lilah
An adventurous 6-year-old with a huge imagination, Lilah wished to be a real fairy with wings and feel like she was flying.
However, before pulling on those wings, some intensive fairy training was required.
It took a lot of work to become a fairy but after two years of chemotherapy and other treatments for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, Lilah was up for the challenge!
Fairy training begins
According to the official Make-A-Wish Fairy Handbook, to be a fairy, you must first learn how to grow a fairy heart, which includes the following lessons…
- How to grow a fairy heart with LOVE
- How to grow a fairy heart with KINDNESS
- How to grow a fairy heart with COURAGE
This intensive fairy training included videos, audio clips and letters from the one and only Boss Queen Fairy aka our wonderful National Patron, Robyn Moore.

Fairy school next!
Once you've completed your fairy training, the next step is official fairy school where you put all your new-found knowledge into practice.
What exactly does fairy school look like? It looks like a circus school in Tassie with big-hearted teachers who couldn’t wait to meet Lilah.
Sometimes when you arrive, it can be a tad overwhelming…
But soon enough, you warm up to your fairy teachers and they take you through all the fairy basics.
When you pass all your fairy tests, you get your official fairy wings and dress. You can tell it’s official by the volume!
Plus you're gifted a fairy bracelet (from our friends at Francesca) and from our friend Sophia Bender, a fairy photo and video shoot of course!
Becoming an official fairy means that you have love, courage, and kindness in your fairy heart and that you know how to sprinkle goodness around like fairy dust.
There aren't many fairies out there these days, but Lilah has joined the ranks and may be the best graduate fairy school has seen in a while!
We also heard that official fairies give the best cuddles to their Mums…
Thanks to our wonderful Hobart fairies
A huge shout out to our wonderful Hobart volunteers who made this wish happen.
We couldn’t ask for a more dedicated, incredible and inspiring group of fairies.
To Amanda for leading the team and doing so much running around for extra fairy goodies. To Jo and Aaron, providing the best fairy support and of course, to Boss Queen Fairy AKA Robyn Moore who brought pure magic to Lilah and a connection that was so strong and beautiful.
This inspiring team came together and were the perfect cheerleaders and fairy friends for Lilah on this special day.
And to our amazing Wish Force
Adie at the circus school was such a fab fairy teacher. She also reconnected with Robyn who spoke at her school when she was a child. She said that Robyn inspired her to be a public speaker and get her message out to others, which she does when she isn’t teaching.
Adie and Gen from the school did everything to make Lilah comfortable and take her through all the necessary tests and training to become a fairy!
Thanks also to the talented team at Wish HQ - Jenna, Sally, Maddy and Rick - for their wonderful work.
What an amazing Wish Force we have!
