What Volunteers Do
Volunteers contribute to fulfilling the Make-A-Wish mission in a number of ways:
Wish Granting Volunteers visit eligible children to discover their wish, then create wonderful wish presentations.
Promotion Volunteers work diligently to promote Make-A-Wish in their local community by speaking to community service groups and local media, or distributing information to hospitals in their area.
Fundraising All Make-A-Wish volunteers are involved in fundraising, which takes many forms – from sausage sizzles to movie nights, trivia nights to gala dinners. Volunteers are always inventing new and imaginative ways to raise funds to grant more wishes. Over 330 volunteer events are held every year and volunteer fundraising efforts typically contribute over $2 million annually. The major theme for all of our fundraising activities is fun!
Each volunteer branch has a volunteer management committee. You can become part of the leadership team by taking on a committee position. Whatever their commitment, big or small, every one of our volunteers plays a special part in helping to grant more wishes.
